Out of Chaos: Europe AD 300–600,

November 11, 2022 – August 6, 2023, Moesgaard Museum, Aarhus, Denmark

On November 11, 2022, a large-scale temporary exhibition opened in Aarhus (Denmark), entitled "Out of Chaos: Europe AD 300–600". The exhibition was opened by Her Majesty Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark herself. The organizing institution, Moesgaard Museum is among the most visited museums in Europe, being recognized primarily for the modern and spectacular exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, that it organizes. "Out of Chaos" presents in the most interactive way possible the crisis period of the late Roman Empire and the events outside its borders during the era of migrations (XNUMXth–XNUMXth centuries AD), with the focus being on the Danube area Middle and Lower and its relations with Scandinavia. This period full of events and military confrontations, characterized by a continuous competition for power, reflected archaeologically by the large amount of gold pieces, is set in an impressive setting and presented with the help of a large number of spectacular archaeological finds from Romania , Hungary, Denmark, Sweden and Spain.

The National History Museum of Transylvania is among the main international partners of the Moesgaard Museum in the organization of the exhibition in which it participates with 59 loaned objects. These come both from well-known Roman archaeological sites on the territory of Dacia (napoca/Cluj-Napoca, Apulum/Alba Iulia, Gilău, Alburnus Major/Roșia Montană, Micăsasa, etc.) as well as from funerary discoveries attributed to Germanic peoples, primarily the Goths (Sântana de Mureș) and the Gepis (Florești-Polus Center, Sânpaul). Moreover, our institution coordinated the loan and transport of exhibited objects from the heritage of nine other museums in Romania that include valuable pieces related to the barbarian peoples outside the late Roman Empire (Goths, Huns, Gepids). Through this impressive project, MNIT and its partner museums contribute significantly to the promotion of Romanian cultural heritage on an international level.

The exhibition "Out of Chaos" can be visited at the premises of the Moesgaard Museum until August 6, 2023. https://www.moesgaardmuseum.dk/en/exhibitions/out-of-chaos/
