March 29 – April 19, 2023, Iulius Mall
Now, during the Easter holidays, the National History Museum of Transylvania, in partnership with the Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania, offers you the exhibition "(A)res of spring" in the premises of Iulius Mall (upstairs). Histories. Holidays. Traditions", in a visual attempt to reflect spring throughout history and especially the concept of ritual. The concept of time is difficult to understand and difficult to define because it is highly subjective. Its perception differs from individual to individual and from community to community. And yet, contemplating it, consciously remembering past events and experiences, anticipating future ones are the essence of what we mean by "human intelligence". The sense of personal identity depends on memory, but a sense of the past could only have arisen when man consciously reflected on his memories. The sacred time of the holidays is a mythic time because during this time certain important events from the past become present again , therefore time becomes repeatable, reversible, it is a cyclical time. Such a temporal cycle, loaded with rituals and sacred elements, is represented by spring, the season of revival and new beginnings.
