Cluj does not have a single history, but several. We can talk about the history of the place and the history of people, about buildings and demolitions, about events or personalities, about material culture or spirituality, about coexistence and tensions, about glory and decline, and on and on. We have chosen to talk about some of the histories of this city through an exhibition - Histories of Cluj. The exhibition represents a synthetic and clear presentation, in which to summarize what is known and even to point out what is not known about Cluj. I have also prepared some novelties, artifacts discovered during the most recent archaeological research in the center, or from previously unpublished lots. This foray into Cluj's past, from the Neolithic to today, is illustrated with goods from the museum's collection, and the themes presented are chosen according to this heritage.
We are grateful to all those who helped us, even if some of the materials offered were only used for the preparation of the exhibition: Laviniu Lazăr, Radu Lupescu, Radu Mârza and Anca Bâlc, Cluj County Statistics Directorate, Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, "Octavian Goga" County Library, "Lucian Blaga" Central University Library, Museum of Hosts of the Cluj Reformed Parish.
We also thank the colleagues who provided us with scientific material, advised us and corrected us. Any remaining errors belong to us.
