On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Mountain King, the year 2024 was declared by the Romanian Parliament "The Year of Avram Iancu".
The National History Museum of Transylvania highlights this moment by participating in an anniversary exhibition dedicated to the hero of the Romanian revolution from 1848 in Transylvania.
As part of this exhibition, MNIT presents a series of cultural assets that are related to the personality of Avram Iancu, such as a spearhead, a pipe and two whistles that belonged to the Paşoptist fighter, pieces that are today in the heritage of the Cluj museum.
These memorial objects were initially owned by intellectuals from the 19th century or the following century, and they, aware of their historical value, carefully preserved them and later donated them to museum institutions.
