THE PHARMACY MUSEUM
Casa Hintz, Piata Unirii, 28
The work at Casa Hintz is nearing the end and we propose to reopen the History of Pharmacy Collection in 2023. In preparation, we also took care of the rebranding campaign. We decided to keep the old name Pharmacy Museum, although it is actually the Pharmacy History Collection, part of the National History Museum of Transylvania.
Old brand + new "clothes" = rebranding
The logo obviously symbolizes the snake, associated with the pharmacy, but, viewed from another perspective, it also pencils a stylized, minimalist F. On the left, you can see the MNIT logo on the plate, obviously because this collection belongs to the National History Museum of Transylvania. On the right is the Hintz House logo, as this building houses the Pharmacy Museum.
In short, MNIT exhibits the History of Pharmacy Collection in a space in the Hintz House, thus giving the Pharmacy Museum back to the public.
It is now even more visible and closer to opening its doors to the public.

FROM THE PRIVACY OF THE INTERIORS OF ANOTHER TIME
Exhibition period: January 10 – February 10, 2023
The 10×10 installation, Boulevard of Heroes
From the intimacy of old interiorsis an outdoor exhibition branded MNIT, which aims to familiarize the public with the most beautiful pieces from the furniture collection of the National History Museum of Transylvania. Among the cultural treasures owned by MNIT, the furniture collection has a special, well-defined place. The pieces in this collection illustrate the most important artistic currents in the history of European cabinetmaking: Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism, Empire, Louis Philippe, Biedermeier or Victorian styles.
In chronological order, the pieces of furniture from the collection of the Cluj Museum of History are arranged between the 16th and 20th centuries. Regarding their provenance, it can be appreciated that most of them belong to the cultural space of Central Europe. Whether they were made in the workshops of local craftsmen or commissioned from prestigious production centers in Hungary, Austria or Germany, they highlight the tastes, artistic canons and, ultimately, the common cultural identity of an area of civilization which stretches from the Alps to the Carpathian Mountains. A certain sobriety of forms, a more accentuated functionalism, "provincial", more modest adaptations of some established motifs - represent the characteristic notes of the furniture that gave shape to the interiors once inhabited by our Transylvanian ancestors.

APHRODISIC AND ANTI-APHRODISIC THROUGHOUT TIME
In February, the National History Museum of Transylvania brings you events in tune with the main holidays of the month. One of these is a new exhibition in the premises of Iulius Mall – Aphrodisiacs and anti-aphrodisiacs over time
In the past, the control of libido was a very serious matter, primarily related to the provision of offspring, in large numbers (due to high infant mortality). The existence and survival of descendants ensured the transmission of family assets, values and memory of parents, and even their salvation, through religious services. The restraint of libido was also important in the context of the strict control of sexual behavior in traditional societies, especially of women and celibate priests/monks. Aphrodisiacs and anti-aphrodisiacs were also found in pharmacies, some based on bizarre, exotic ingredients, sometimes of animal origin. About all this, the National History Museum of Transylvania is preparing an exhibition in the premises of Iulius Mall (upstairs), starting from February 14 and until the end of the month, whose curator is Ana-Maria Gruia.
