CRAFTS CHAIN – MINIATURE TOOLS
We enthusiastically started the first activity of this year, "The Chain of Crafts - Miniature Tools", together with the "Haihui among Words" association, continuing the partnership that has already become a tradition for the museum.
We met with the young visitors in a new and friendly setting, the hall dedicated to discovering treasures from the "Forgotten Warriors and Eternal Adornments" exhibition space.
Our colleague Andra, a museum educator, presented the fascinating history of the discovery of the treasure from Șimleu Silvaniei, Luminița, a primary school teacher and the museum's trusted friend, introduced us to the wonderful world of stories of forgotten crafts, and Monica, a museographer, helped us decipher the crafts depicted through the 52 pendants of the gold chain with miniatures.
As we have accustomed the curious young people who participate in our educational workshops, there were no shortage of surprises: at the end, everyone was able to take home a book and a medallion, a copy of one of the pendants on the chain, to remind them of this great experience.
Follow us to sign up for our new workshop, "The Young Princess' Necklace", which will take place at the end of February.

The play "THE JUDGMENT OF OSIRIS"
These events conclude the third year since we initiated the project addressed to high school students, the Dialogue Platform between MNIT and teenagers – Our Museum / Your Museum, an initiative that forced us to look for ways to get teenagers to use their creativity and energy and to express their own vision about an exhibition, starting from the one made by MNIT "Gods and mortals from ancient Egypt" (ZMEA).
Four Cluj schools participated in the project: "Gheorghe Șincai" National College Cluj-Napoca, "Nicolae Bălcescu" Theoretical High School Cluj-Napoca, Energetic Technical College Cluj and "Ștefan Pascu" Apahida High School. Project results, exhibition #AfostodateinEgypt and the play Judgment of Osiris, will be presented to the public on May 31 at 16:00 p.m. at the MNIT headquarters.
In addition to what they learned with us and achieved through their own effort, there remains an experience that brought them closer to the museum and brought the museum closer to them!

GODS AND MORTAL IN ANCIENT EGYPT
JUNE 1, 2024 / Museum education workshop:
For the ancient Egyptians, the preservation of the body by mummification or embalming was very important. Only certain priests could do this. Mummification could take up to 70 days. Afterwards the body was washed, wrapped in linen strips and placed in a human-shaped wooden sarcophagus, painted with various signs and symbols.
The mummy – an important artefact in our Exhibition, is painted with different scenes illustrating moments from the embalming ritual. One such scene is a wide collar, decorated on the chest and composed of ten rows of geometric motifs.
From JUNE 1st, I told the little ones about rituals, gods and embalming. And because we chose to make the collar rendered on the mummy together, we turned the activity into a real art.
