BACH, BAROQUE AND FEMININITY
March 5, 2023, 19.00 p.m., National Museum of Transylvanian History
The music of Johann Sebastian Bach, together with pieces of jewelry, clothing accessories, decorative art objects dating from the end of the 17th century and the 18th century, all of this will create the atmosphere of an evening dedicated to both the Baroque and femininity.
Interpret:
Valentin Şerban – violin
Mihai Diaconescu – piano
Octavian Lup – cello
The fourth edition High Classic Rooms. Museum Music Halls, wrapped in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, takes place in close proximity to Women's Day. Under this aura of femininity and under the influence of the baroque style that inspired Bach's music, the exhibition includes pieces of adornment, clothing accessories, decorative art objects dating from the late 17th century and the 18th century. The central piece of the exhibition is a period-specific corset, and the wealth of details creates the impression of baroque opulence. The ensemble is completed by the jewelry that permanently accompanied, sometimes in an impressive number, the image of a high society lady: rings, belts, necklaces, earrings or hairpins. There are also accessories, perfume bottles made of precious materials, Venetian crystal mirrors or snuff boxes.
Separately, but seen as a link between the two main themes (femininity and baroque music), unique tiles from the collection of the National History Museum of Transylvania will be exhibited, each containing the representation of a female character playing a musical instrument. Women playing the harp, organ or bombarda (musical instrument precursor to the oboe) were identified as muses, and their presence in the area reflects the taste of Transylvanian elites for chamber music.
The show will be completed with various projections that will complete the baroque atmosphere.
Artist Information:
Valentin Șerban is the winner of the First Prize of the "George Enescu" International Competition, 2020-2021 edition. His performance in the final of the competition – the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by Jean Sibelius – remains one of the most moving moments in the history of the competition.
Pianist Mihai Diaconescu won numerous prizes in national and international competitions, he was one of the soloists of the traditional royal concert, a concert that takes place every year in the Hall of the Romanian Academy, next to the Royal Chamber.
Octavian Lup is one of the most brilliant cellists of his generation, a representative of excellence in musical art and a distinguished personality on the podium of the national and international stages. Laureate of numerous competitions in Romania and abroad, Octavian has performed on four continents of the world, alongside renowned names in the field of classical music.

SONORO, ORIENT EXPRESS

The 16th edition of the SoNoRo International Chamber Music Festival, entitled Orient Express, took place between September 2 and October 2022, XNUMX, in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.
This year's theme was inspired by the luxurious train journeys of the famous La Belle Époque period and continued the tradition of previous editions, where the tone dictated by the name was imprinted in the smallest details: the chosen repertoire, the unconventional spaces, the guest musicians and the general atmosphere .

ZĂNATEC – CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL MUSIC EXHIBITION
July 9 2022, MNIT headquarters
A unique experience, an unconventional and visual "classical music summer night" at the same time, in the "summer garden" atmosphere offered by the inner courtyard of the National History Museum of Transylvania.
The event was part of the ZĂNATEC project and was basically an unconventional way, dedicated to the urban space, to approach the classic. The formula brought together musicians and instrumentalists in various arrangements, architectures and purposes. Most of the time, the new spaces were highlighted, as different as possible, because the way of presentation was also different than what a classical recital entails. It was, rather, a musical seminar, an experience that combined music and visual performance, while providing explanations to the audience. The public took an active part in the event, through forays into various moments in the history of music, creating various bridges between what was yesterday and what is today, either from the point of view of instruments or from the perspective of sound effects.
The evening's program included works by Beethoven and Shostacovich alongside projections and light projections, conceptualized by the project's intermedia artist, Cristina Pop-Tiron.
Artists: Ana Teodora Buia, Sonia Vulturar, Mihai Oșvat, Adela Hania Moldovan
A visit to the MNIT exhibitions was included in the ticket price, which could be done until the end of July, based on the concert ticket.

ARCADIA QUARTET
August 14, 2022, 17.00 p.m., at the MNIT headquarters
In the During the Hungarian Cultural Days in Cluj (August 14-21, 2022), the second edition of the HIGH CLASSIC ROOMS project took place at the headquarters of the MNIT - Museum music rooms.
In the first part of this cultural event, there was a chamber recital by the Arcadia Quartet (Ana Török, Răsvan Dumitru, Traian Boală and Zsolt Török), with the following pieces on the program: Joseph Haydn – String quartet no. 5, op. 76; Béla Bartók – String quartet no. 4 and Romanian folk dances.

In the second part of the event, cultural goods from the heritage of the National History Museum of Transylvania were exhibited, which used to beautify the interiors of the Mintia Castle, in Hunedoara county. Between 1869 and 1905, this castle was the beloved home of Count Géza Kuun (1838-1905), a renowned philologist, linguist, historian and orientalist of the era, and later of his wife Vilma Kuun. During the mini-exhibition, reproductions of some photos were presented that showed the Kuuns, the castle in Mintia or their beautiful tomb in the Central Cemetery (Házsongárd) in Cluj, cultural assets owned today by Cluj County Directoratea National Archives. We would also like to thank director Paula Ivan and archivist Florin Mureșan for their collaboration on our exhibition project, as well as Mr. Ferenc Lukács, for the precious help given in the process of identifying and processing the images.

High Classic Rooms. Museum music halls -ep. 1
May 14, 2022, MNIT headquarters
In the opening of the Night of the Museums 2022, the National History Museum of Transylvania offers you a transposition in time, through a special event. In a period salon atmosphere, you'll be able to admire authentic pieces of XNUMXth-century furniture, while listening to a rare version of Vivaldi's "Seasons" by string quartet, plus solo violin and historic harpsichord.
And, for the "high class" atmosphere to be at the highest level, the quartet that will perform the program will be Arcadia, the best string quartet from us and one of the most awarded quartets in the world. The Sunday Times wrote of their performance as "a beauty that pierces your heart", and The Financial Times described that the atmosphere created by Arcadia is so charged that "the result is an assault on the senses, piercing the heart of this disturbing music".
Vlad Răceu, one of the most acclaimed violinists of his generation, with over 500 recitals and concerts under his belt, will perform alongside them, on solo violin.
Program: Antonio Vivaldi – "The Seasons"
Vlad Răceu – solo violin
Arcadia Quartet: Ana Török – first violin, Răsvan Dumitru – second violin, Traian Boală – viola, Zsolt Török – cello
Erich Türk – harpsichord
